City lawyers backed off Wednesday on their push to evict Jerry Delakas, 64, upon learning that Mayor de Blasio was sympathetic to Delakas’ plight, the newsstand man’s lawyer said. Attorney Arthur Schwartz said city lawyers agreed to a two-week adjournment in Manhattan Supreme Court after hearing the mayor’s press office issued a statement saying, “We are working to reach a better outcome.” ALEC TABAK FOR NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Jerry Delakas stands in front of his Astor Place newsstand, a fixture of the East Village since 1987, right after it was shuttered in mid-December.
