SCENES FROM THE STREET
5 May 2023
Since 1973 The Renaissance Street Singers of New York have sung 15th and 16th Century music a capella on the sidewalks and in the public places of New York, especially in the quiet spaces of Greenwich Village (the above photo was taken just outside the Cherry Lane Theatre). Concerts are about two Sunday afternoons a month, are free. Passers-by hear polyphonic motets, hymns, magnificats, mass sections and other sacred music. New members who can read music, carry a part confidently, blend well and attend regularly are welcome. Rehearsals are held in Chelsea. Contact John Hetland at john@streetsingers.org
